Drinks at The St. Regis in Buckhead...Not My Pleasure

After a closing today my good friend and I went next door to the St Regis hotel on West Paces Ferry for a celebratory cocktail. It was our first trip to the hotel and man is it stunning. There is no question you are in one of the finest establishments in the city, if not the finest. Some of the finishes look like they have been there for 200 years, like the wood floors...while others have a more modern feel...in a classic kind of way. That sounds like a weird description but that's how it is. Now you can take me into the finest wine bar in the world and I'm always going to ask for a beer first, but I felt like at the St Regis bar I was the first person to ever ask for a beer. My friend inquired about their single malt scotches and the list went on forever with endless descriptions...then I asked for what kind of beer they had and the bartender said "the normal stuff". I asked for a list and he blurted out a couple of american beers followed by a blank stare as if my request for a beer was annoying to him. By the time I got around to a second beer I thought I would try again and see if we could come up with some variety and damned if he didn't give me a hard time about my desire for a better beer than the first one he gave me... Needless to say I was very dissapointed with his behavior and dislike of the beer drinking man. I never get tired of "My Pleasure" at the Ritz Carlton and have never once felt like my order of a beer wasn't the most important order at the bar. A stunning place indeed but I do hope to be treated better next time I am in there.

Stop your whinning- why would you expect to be treated any better? The bartender answered your question! Why are you complaining?

I'm not whining, I'm bitching. I expect better service than that when I pay $7.00 for a beer, or anything for that matter. So the reason for my complaint is that I hope someone from the St. Regis will read this and address the service standards at their property.
