I am so excited to be typing this post! The reversible lane on Northside Drive between Norfleet and Northside Parkway will go away starting in May of this year. The GA DOT will begin working to remove the lane and replace it with a two way left turn lane. The work will begin May 4th and continue through June 11th 2009. This lane has caused so many accidents and I have personally seen close to ten barely avoided. People don't understand the signs or just flat out ignore them and when crossing over West Wesley and Arden Roads, it is life threatening. For the most part drivers stay in the far right lane but in almost ever instance, some idiot goes flying through the center lane and 50% of the time they are in the wrong lane at the wrong time. I can't wait to see it go away and am very pleased that it is actually happening. Thank you DOT, even if it's 20 years overdue. Here is a link where you can view the actual release from the City of Atlanta. Northside Drive Report.
